Couple Killed On I-55 By 'Wrong Way, Drunk Driver': GoFundMe

The Help The Dube Family GoFundMe has raised $73,032, way above the $30,000 fund-raising goal to help the couple's surviving children.

WILMINGTON, IL — Even though the Illinois State Police and the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow have not moved forward with criminal charges in connection with a multiple fatality crash caused by a wrong way Interstate 55 driver, there has been an enormous outpouring of financial support for the Dube family.

The GoFundMe set up on Wednesday called, "Help The Dube Family," has surpassed its fund-raising goal of $30,000. In one day, the GoFundMe raised $73,032 and climbing thanks to more than 1,000 donations so far.

"On June 27, 2023, both Ron and Kelly Dube were killed in a motor vehicle accident on Route 55 in Illinois due to a wrong-way driver under the influence of alcohol hitting their vehicle head-on. All four of their beautiful children are still alive at this time receiving medical treatment at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago for multiple injuries," the GoFundMe announced.

Will County Coroner Laurie Summers announced on Facebook that Ron Dube was 35 and his wife Kelly was 34 years old. The couple lived in Emington, a tiny town of 120 people in Livingston County.
