Dalewayne Turner's Gruesome Death: 1st-Degree Murder Charges Finally Filed Against These 2 Inmates

JOLIET, IL — Kept in the Will County Jail since July 2, 26-year-old James Adams and 62-year-old Robin Turner of 2405 Ruth Fitzgerald Drive learned on Wednesday that their days of avoiding first-degree murder charges in connection with to this summer's shocking and gruesome killing of Dalewayne Turner are over.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has upped their charges and the new grand jury indictment reveals that Adams and Turner are now charged with first-degree murder for the June 21 killing of Dalewayne Turner. The newly refiled petition to deny pretrial release reveals that the autopsy performed on Dalewayne Turner's body showed that he died as a result of multiple stabbing wounds.

Dalewayne and Adams were half-brothers while Dalewayne was married to Robin Turner even though she was old enough to be his mother. The Joliet murder victim was 38 years old.

Count one alleges that both of them "inflicted sharp force injury to Dalewayne Turner, thereby causing the death of Dalewayne Turner."

A total of three counts of first-degree murder were filed against both of the Plainfield-area residents whose house is actually in the city of Joliet limits.

And there are more criminal charges, too.

Count 4 is dismembering a human body. Both Adams and Turner are accused of having "knowingly dismembered, severed, separated, dissected and or mutilated any body part of the deceased body of Dalewayne Turner."

And then, count 5: concealment of a homicidal death.

For that one, Turner and Adams are accused of having "knowledge that Dalewayne Turner had died by homicidal means, concealed the death of Dalewayne Turner in that the defendant stored a portion of the body of Dalewayne Turner in a freezer in the residence located at 2405 Ruth Fitzgerald Drive in Plainfield, Will County, Illinois."

As for the sixth and final charge, it's another count of concealment of homicidal death.

According to their indictment, Turner and Adams "with knowledge that Dalewayne Turner had died by homicidal means concealed the death of Dalewayne Turner in that the defendant drove with severed pieces of the body of Dalewayne Turner secreted within a vehicle to Lake Mattoon and dumped black weighted garbage bags containing body parts of Dalewayne Turner into Lake Mattoon."

Turner and Adams have stayed in their Will County Jail cells since July 2. The Illinois State Police arrested them and are leading the homicide investigation that has garnered national and international coverage.
