Body Found In Car At Joliet Grocery Store Parking Lot

JOLIET, IL — A body was found Sunday morning in the large public parking lot shared by Tony's Fresh Market grocery store and Planet Fitness gym on West Jefferson Street, according to Joliet police, who say the death is not being treated as a homicide.

The property is the former site of Kmart.

"The information I have right now is that a male was located deceased in a vehicle parked in the Planet Fitness parking lot this morning," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English told Joliet Patch. "Nothing appears suspicious in nature, and a preliminary indication is that the death appears natural."

English said that identification and cause and manner of death will come through the Will County Coroner's Office, he noted.
