Deadly Joliet Wreck: Glenwood Avenue Victim Identified

Joliet Patch was on the scene of Tuesday night's traffic fatality that closed Glenwood Avenue for several hours.

JOLIET, IL —A 50-year-old Aurora woman died Tuesday night when the car they were driving burst into flames after being rear-ended by an out of control driver speeding west along Glenwood Avenue, according to Joliet police. The Aurora resident has been identified as Ednalice Pagan-Romney. The crash happened at the stoplight along Glenwood at Springfield Avenue.

The fiery wreck happened around 8:15 p.m.

The driver who caused the collision, a 46-year-old Joliet woman, was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to Joliet police.

Joliet Patch was reporting on the crash at the scene when the medical helicopter arrived at 10:20 p.m. at the AMITA St. Joe's hospital to fly the injured woman to Maywood.

The fatal wreck happened directly across the street from the Emergency Room at St. Joe's hospital on Joliet's west side.
