Deborah Lynn Umbaugh

Wife, friend, nurse, and traveler

Deborah Lynn Umbaugh (nee Hines)

Was surrounded by family when she left this world to meet the Lord on December 20, 2024 at the age of 67.

Debbie was born in Terre Haute, IN, where she went on to graduate from Norton High School in 1975 and later graduated from the St. Thomas School of Nursing. Her dedication to nursing was briefly interrupted when she took a temporary leave to go live in England. In time, Debbie found her way to Illinois and settled into her position at Silver Cross Hospital where she worked as an OB/GYN nurse for over 35 years before her retirement. Her impact as a preceptor is still evident in those who were new nurses that she helped acclimate to the hospital.

Debbie’s love of God helped her find joy and happiness throughout her life. Debbie was a family person, an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling all over the world including Madrid, England, and domestic locations including West Pennsylvania, Las Vegas, and California. One of her early trips to California was with her best friend, Tami Tonathy, and the Norton High School Marching Band, in which they performed at halftime at the L.A. Rams game and also at Disneyland.
