JOLIET, IL — Two of the three co-defendants in the Joliet Denny's Restaurant parking lot murder of Crest Hill resident Gregory Brown are required to furnish a DNA sample for the Will County State's Attorney's Office to examine as part of the case.

According to the prosecution's motion from last week, Joliet police were sent to the Denny's Restaurant at 2531 Plainfield Road on April 30, 2019. Officers found Brown dead in the Denny's parking lot. He suffered a gunshot to his head.

Police learned three people were present when Brown was killed and Brown's cell phone was stolen and disposed of along the highway.

Joliet police recovered the phone in hopes of determining whether any of the co-defendants' DNA was on Brown's phone.

The prosecution's motion indicated that the Illinois State Police Crime Lab will need to consume the sample swab from the LG cell phone to test for the DNA.

"Additionally, the lab has indicated they will need standards from the defendants in this case," Assistant State's Attorney Christine Vukmir informed the court. "Defendant Joshua Anderson has previously submitted to a buccal swab. The state is seeking standards from defendants Ollom and Parker."

Last week, Bobbi Jo Ollom, now 27, was sentenced to 18 years at the Illinois Department of Corrections for armed robbery. She has agreed to testify truthfully against her co-defendants Christopher C. Parker and Joshua Topaz Anderson. Bretz said that Anderson is the suspected mastermind of the killing and that Parker is the suspected shooter.

Bretz said his client did not have any idea Parker and Anderson were planning to commit murder. Ollom and Anderson were dating at the time, but their romance ended when they both went to jail.

Ollom had lived in Joliet and Seneca prior to being incarcerated in 2019.
