JOLIET, IL — One of Joliet's biggest construction projects of the summer is on McDonough Street across from the Joliet Park District's Inwood Golf Course. In case you haven't noticed, a substantial amount of site excavation is underway at the future home of the Joliet Inpatient Treatment Center.

The Joliet inpatient hospital will provide long-term treatment to incarcerated men and women with mental illnesses.

It's a $150 million construction project administered by the Illinois Department of Corrections. The project is great news for Joliet's economy. The DOC announced back in March that it will mean 445 permanent new jobs for Joliet once the treatment center opens in 2021.
