Doug Jenco Installed As Elwood's New Village President
December's public hearing on the NorthPoint development resumes Thursday night.

ELWOOD, IL - Just weeks after last year's newly elected village president Todd Matichak resigned from office partly because of the unwanted stress from the NorthPoint controversy, Elwood has installed a new officeholder. Doug Jenco has taken over as the new village president. That means Jenco will have a voice in the outcome of the whether Elwood supports or rejects the 2,200-acre NorthPoint development that is expected to bring a ton of semi truck traffic to the Elwood and Manhattan areas, if approved.
In addition to Jenco's appointment, Elwood resident Don LaPaglia was sworn into office as a village trustee, WJOL 1340 reported.

The NorthPoint project will be back on the community's radar later this week when the Elwood planning and zoning commission' public hearing that started on December 19 will resume. The meeting resumes at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Elwood School, 409 North Chicago Avenue.
