Dragon's Den Closes In Joliet's Downtown After 13 Months Of Business
An empty storefront now greets visitors to downtown Joliet. Dragon's Den was across from the Joliet Public Library and St. Mary's Carmelite.

JOLIET, IL — The owners of the Dragon's Den collectables business based in Willow Springs decided it was no longer wise to continue to operate a second retail storefront in downtown Joliet.
The downtown Joliet Dragon's Den store across from the Joliet Public Library branch and the old St. Mary's Carmelite officially went out of business Jan. 18.
Dragon's Den opened in downtown Joliet at the corner of Ottawa and Clinton Streets on Dec. 17, 2021. At that time, Joliet Patch reported there was about 20 feet of store wall "filled to the brim with around 800" pop vinyl figures including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Transformers, sports, horror movies and more.

Dragon's Den was a buy, trade and sell store. Its collectables mostly ranged in price from $5 to $150. There were clothing such as dragon-themed sweatshirts and hoodies.

The Dragon's Den Shop carried an assortment of unusual Lay's potato chip products, including exotic chips from Taiwan.

Even though things did not work out in downtown Joliet, the owners of Dragon's Den announced on Facebook that they plan to re-open a second location somewhere else.
"We decided (to) explore other location options, and focus on bettering our business from behind the scenes, to better serve our customers and offer the best experience possible," Dragon's Den announced on Facebook. "We look forward to reopening our second location, and we will keep everyone updated on the move. Thank you again for your support, we are forever grateful to everyone and the community. All store credit and inventory will be moved and migrated to the Willow Spring location."
