Driver Shot In Crest Hill, Crashes Into Tree In Joliet

Crest Hill and Joliet police officers were busy investigating the overnight shooting along Larkin Avenue.

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old man who was shot in Crest Hill crashed into a tree along one of Joliet's busiest streets, Larkin Avenue, late Wednesday, according to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English.

The Joliet crash happened around 11:05 p.m.

The Chevrolet Malibu was southbound on North Larkin Avenue and veered into the northbound lanes, and left the roadway on the east side of the street, striking a tree and an office building at 1118 North Larkin Ave., English told Joliet Patch.

The driver told Joliet police he had been shot in the chest prior to the collision. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance brought the victim to the Ascension St Joseph Medical Center.

No other injuries were reported in the crash, English said.

Any inquiries regarding the shooting investigation should be referred to the Crest Hill Police Department, English said.

Joliet Patch has left a voicemail message with Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark seeking more details about the shooting in his city.
