Drunken Driver Flips Car With Child Inside: Cops

Joliet police arrested 37-year-old Jennafer Grove on felony drunken driving charges as well as child endangerment offenses.

JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Joliet woman remains in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say she flipped her car while driving drunk with a 4-year-old child inside her vehicle in the city's Cathedral Area.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 7:45 a.m. Thursday near Wilcox Street and Whittier Avenue.

Joliet police arrested Jennafer Grove, who lives in the 300 block of Wilcox, on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI with a BAC over 0.08 and endangering the life of a child. The 4-year-old was not injured during the crash, police said.

According to police, Grove was driving a Nissan sedan on Western Avenue and left the roadway striking bushes, causing her car to roll over on Thursday morning.

Grove displayed signs of intoxication, and she was taken away in handcuffs to the Will County Jail, police reports indicate. The 4 year-old child was turned over to family members, police said.

Both Grove and the juvenile were not injured during the crash.

Grove was scheduled to have a bail hearing before a Will County judge on Friday afternoon, her jail logs show.
