JOLIET, IL — A 56-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail facing felony DUI charges after Joliet police say he crashed into a parked car along Hosmer Street and fled the scene.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow charged Timothy Yantz Sr. on Monday with aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated driving while having a license revoked. It's his fourth DUI violation, prosecutors outlined in the complaint.

On Sunday evening, Yantz was driving near Ingalls Avenue and his hit-and-run crash was reported to Joliet police around 6:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Hosmer Street, authorities told Patch.

"Officers determined Yantz’s vehicle had struck the rear of an unoccupied parked vehicle while southbound on Hosmer Street," police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "After the collision, the owner of the vehicle came outside and advised Yantz that she was notifying the police. Yantz then drove away without providing information."

English said Joliet officers found Yantz driving his damaged vehicle at the nearby intersection of Ingalls Avenue and Hosmer Street.

"Officers noted fresh damage to the front of Yantz’s vehicle. While speaking to officers, Yantz exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. Yantz refused to submit to field sobriety tests, and he was taken into custody without incident," Joliet police reports reflect.

Yantz's three prior DUIs all happened in Will County, according to prosecutors: Aug. 25, 1997, April 27, 2002, and Feb. 25, 2005.

Yantz lives in the apartment units on Joliet's west side in the 1400 block of Woodbridge Road, which is near Midland Avenue, county jail logs show.
