Drunken Driver On Wrong Side Of Jefferson Street: Joliet Police

When Wesley Hoehn-Ruiz, 29, of Joliet refused to perform his field sobriety tests, Joliet police say they booked him into custody.

JOLIET, IL — A 29-year-old west side resident is now locked away from society following his felony arrest by Joliet police on charges of aggravated DUI. Joliet police made the arrest of Wesley Hoehn-Ruiz around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of West Jefferson Street.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:

  • Overnight patrol officers saw a Chevrolet Tahoe exit a parking lot in the 1600 block of West Jefferson Street and then travel westbound in the eastbound lanes before entering another nearby parking lot in the 1600 block of West Jefferson Street.
  • Officers pulled over the driver, Hoehn-Ruiz, who displayed signs of alcohol impairment when speaking with them.
  • Hoehn-Ruiz refused to perform field sobriety tests; he was taken into custody without any problems.
  • Joliet police also cited for Hoehn-Ruiz for driving on the wrong side of the road and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. The Chevrolet Tahoe was taken away by a tow truck.

Hoehn-Ruiz lives in the 3000 block of Bloomfield Drive, that's near Interstate 80. A Will County judge will set bail on Monday afternoon.
