On Dec. 22, Joliet police officers responded to Essington Road and Thomas Hickey Drive for a traffic crash.

JOLIET, IL — A 48-year-old man from Alsip now finds himself facing DUI charges after Joliet police say his decision to drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages led to Friday night's wreck on Essington Road.
According to Joliet police reports:
- At 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 22, officers responded to Essington Road and Thomas Hickey Drive for a crash.
- Michael Huber was driving a Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Essington Road approaching Thomas Hickey Drive in the inside lane, at which time his vehicle collided into the rear of a Tesla 3, driven by a 45-year-old man from Naperville
- There were no reported injuries from the crash.
- While speaking with the officers, police said Huber exhibited behaviors consistent with alcohol impairment. Huber performed field sobriety tests, and he was placed into custody without incident.
- Huber was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Joliet police say that Huber was later released on a notice to appear for the DUI.
