Over the summer, the local Eisenbrandt Family Foundation donated $41,845 to Troy Community School District 30-C for upgrades to its softball field. The Eisenbrandt Family Foundation was inspired by Plainfield farmer and philanthropist William “Billy” Eisenbrandt, who passed away in 2018.

Troy staff thanked the members of the foundation for the donation.

“I am humbled by their generosity,” said Meagan DeGroot, Troy Director of Athletics and Activities. “Mr. Eisenbrandt was a very big advocate of sports, especially of baseball. The foundation directors said they wanted to do something special for Troy.”

Eisenbrandt’s wife, Marianne, one of the foundation’s directors, said her husband did love the sport and also had a heart for charity work.

“He cared for the kids,” she said. “He was an unsung hero.”

Another of the foundation’s directors, Greg Severson, said the organization is a charitable foundation that also gives to local universities, a church and local charities.

“Bill was always a big baseball fan,” Severson said, “and he loved his community.”
