Joliet Pizza Battle At Elder Brewing Tonight

JOLIET, IL - It's finally here. The Elder Brewing Company is hosting a first-ever city of Joliet food battle, but it's a friendly competition. It's being called The Elder Brewing Joliet Pizza Off. Seven of the Joliet area's best known pizza establishments have made commitments to Elder Brewing that they're in. We're talking the cream of the crop, the big leagues of Joliet pizzerias. Cemenos Pizza, Niko's Pizzeria, Michael's Pizza, Maurie's Table Pizza & Pub, Aurelio's Pizza Joliet, Linda's Pizza Westside and The Big Chill & Grill.

The Joliet Pizza Off starts at 5 p.m. this Saturday, July 7, and lasts until at least 9 p.m. Elder Brewing, one of the city's two downtown microbrews, is at 218 E. Cass Street, across the street from JCM Uniforms.

"We don’t serve food, but we try really hard to incorporate local businesses in everything we do. So we thought this would be super fun and entertaining, and we want to keep doing it with all different types of food," Elder Brewing company owner Andrew Polykandriotis told Joliet Patch.

Come Saturday, customers can sample the available slices and vote on their favorite for $5.

"Show your favorites some love so that they know where their fans are at!!" Elder Brewing posted on Facebook. "Oh and by the way, Ruben (Calderon) at Art Of Breath Galeria has a painting and prints being made for this and they are hot. For the pizza-off, bring $5 to participate aka eat some pizza and vote!"

Elder Brewing's summer hours of operation are 4 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. When Elder has live bands, they often stay open until around 10 p.m.
