"Marcano had arrived at the apartment and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said. "Marcano then attacked his (relative) by throwing him to the ground and striking him in the face."

When police arrived, "Marcano became very belligerent with officers and shoved an officer with both hands," English noted.

As police escorted Marcano to the squad car, he repeatedly attempted to pull away, police reports show. Once he got to the Joliet police station, the Lockport resident refused to cooperate with booking procedures, English announced.

Marcano was then brought to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, and he remained in custody on Tuesday, unable to post bond.
