Employee Attacked Inside Old-Fashioned Pancake House, Customer Taken Away In Handcuffs: Joliet Police
Robert Weathers refused to comply with officers' commands and was taken into custody following a brief struggle, Joliet Police announced.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that a 65-year-old member of the community was taken away in handcuffs following a violent confrontation with an employee inside one of Joliet's most popular sit-down restaurants.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the Old-Fashioned Pancake House at 2022 West Jefferson Street for a report of a male customer who had punched an employee.
Joliet police said that Robert Weathers had struck an employee after the employee checked on him after Weathers had not paid his bill. A review of the restaurant’s surveillance video showed Weathers slap a wallet out of the employee’s hand on two occasions before striking the employee in the chest with a closed fist, English revealed.

English noted the incident was unprovoked. The bill for the food was eventually paid.
According to English, Weathers refused to comply with officers’ commands, and he was taken into custody following a brief struggle. Joliet police have charged Weathers with battery and obstructing a peace officer. Weathers, who comes from the 400 block of Bluff Street, was taken to the Joliet Police Department for processing and later released on a notice to appear in court.

Joliet's Old-Fashioned Pancake House is a breakfast and brunch restaurant that has been in operation at 2022 West Jefferson St. since 1988.
