Engelbert Humperdinck, 86, Won't Perform Rialto Show This Month

Refunds will be available for 30 days, through October 9.

JOLIET, IL — If you were hoping to see legendary English pop music artist Engelbert Humperdinck bring his talents to the stage of the Rialto Square Theatre for a Sept. 15 evening concert, that's not going to happen.

On Friday, Rialto officials issued a news release, revealing the unfortunatee news regarding the 86-year-old music performer's health:

"Due to a COVID-19 outbreak, Engelbert Humperdinck, originally scheduled for September 15, 2022 has been rescheduled to April 27, 2023," the press release indicated. "We sincerely appreciate your support of Rialto Square Theatre events and your understanding during this time."

Born in 1936, the English pop singer has sold more than 140 million records. He's had 64 gold albums, 35 platinum, four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe and he stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Engelbert Humperdinck last performed in downtown Joliet in 2018 as part of the Engelbert Humperdinck: The Man I Want To Be Tour.

"He has performed for the Queen four times, several presidents and many heads of state. He has recorded everything from the most romantic ballads to movie theme songs, disco, rock, and even gospel," Humperdinck's marketing bio proclaims. "His unique voice has charmed millions of fans around the globe. However, it’s not just the voice, but the man himself, with his endearing sense of humor and self-deprecating jokes. Engelbert has managed to strike a new chord with a younger generation, appearing on MTV several times."

The Rialto noted that tickets for the original date will be honored at the April 27, 2023, show.

Rialto marketing staff indicated that if you are unable to attend the rescheduled show, please contact your point of purchase for a refund. Refunds will be available for 30 days, through October 9.

Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster can be refunded through the Ticketmaster website, while tickets purchased at the Rialto box office need to be returned to the box office to process the refund. Tickets may be returned in person or mailed to: Attn: Box Office 15 E Van Buren St. Joliet, IL 60432.
