Pedestrian Dies Crossing Essington Road: Police
Joliet police detoured traffic between Theodore Street and Ingalls Avenue to investigate Wednesday's fatality involving a pedestrian.

JOLIET, IL —A busy section of Essington Road was shut down to traffic Wednesday night as Joliet police investigated a crash that took the life of a 45-year-old man. The Will County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Mark A. Molitoris, a Chicago resident.
The fatality happened at 5:43 p.m.
Joliet police issued a second news release on Thursday morning explaining that Molitorius was walking east across Essington Road when a car driven by a 21-year-old Verona man hit him. The driver was headed north on Essington Road.

"The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was fully cooperative with the crash investigation," police added.
Joliet firefighter/paramedics from Station 7 on Essington Road found the Chicago man in the middle of the roadway. He was not breathing and without a pulse, the chief said. Molitoris was pronounced dead at 6:08 p.m., the coroner's office announced.
