Former Bear Will Be Featured Speaker At Annual Fundraiser


Joliet- Steve McMichael, a member of the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears, once again is reaching out to help children and those with special needs.  The former, record setting Bears’ defensive tackle will attend a May 17 fundraiser for United Cerebral Palsy of Illinois Prairieland. The annual fundraiser is sponsored by the Will-Grundy Sportsmen club.  In its twelfth year, the Sportsmen for Charity event has raised over $800,000 for UCP Prairieland which serves a six county area including Will, Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, Ford, LaSalle and Iroquois counties.

 Steve McMichael will be the featured speaker and autographed Bears souvenirs will be auctioned to raise money.  Steve may have some other surprises in store.


 “I’m always happy to help out the kids and those with special needs,” McMichael said, “and we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure this is a huge success for UCP.”

The event will be held at the Cardinal Transport Facility, 7180 E. Reed Rd., Coal City.  Doors open at 5:30 pm with dinner at 7:00.  The evening will be filled with a silent and live auction, entertainment and plenty of time to hang out with Steve.
