Eviction For Cajun Boil & Bar? Lawsuit Filed By Louis Mall
Star-West Louis Joliet has filed a civil lawsuit against the owners of Cajun Boil & Bar saying the restaurant chain has failed to pay rent.

JOLIET, IL — The Cajun Boil and Bar restaurant that opened in October 2019 at the Louis Joliet Mall is now facing an eviction after lawyers representing Star-West Louis Joliet Mall, LLC, filed a civil lawsuit at the Will County Courthouse.
Cajun Boil and Bar has failed to make it rent payments as obligated under its lease, the lawsuit states. As of July 7, Cajun Boil and Bar owed "no less than $304,934.57 in rent and other charges due" the plaintiff's lawsuit informs Will County's judges.
On June 21, the lawsuit states, a notice of default was issued to Cajun Boil and Bar and the "tenant failed to cure the default within the cure period set forth in the default and the lease," according to plaintiff's attorney Katie Curtis of Chicago.

At the moment, Cajun Boil and Bar "unlawfully withholds possession of the premises from (its) landlord," court documents show. "For each month tenant continues to occupy the premises, tenant will owe additional rent and charges to landlord under the lease."
The lawsuit on behalf of the Louis Joliet Mall seeks a judgment in the plaintiff's favor plus attorneys fees as well as possession of the premises.

During an October 2019 interview with Joliet Patch, the new restaurant manager for the Louis Joleit Mall's Cajun Boil and Bar said that "A lot of people compare us to Red Lobster, but they say that we taste a lot better. Everything is fried or boiled. Nothing is grilled. The gumbo is made every day in the morning."
In addition to Joliet, other Cajun Boil and Bar restaurants operate in Orland Park, Oak Park and Oakbrook Terrace.
On Tuesday, Joliet Patch left a detailed voicemail message with corporate officials at Cajun Boil and Bar seeking comment for this article.
The Joliet Cajun Boil and Bar restaurant at 3340 Mall Loop Drive is open noon to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to the company website.
The Joliet restaurant currently shows a total of 369 Google Reviews, averaging 3.9 stars out of 5 stars.
