Extreme Heat Alters June 10 IHSA Baseball Schedule at Silver Cross Field
Game times have been adjusted from the original schedule to prevent playing during the hottest hours of the day.

With temperatures expected to reach or exceed 100 degrees this weekend, Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Executive Director Craig Anderson announced schedule changes to the IHSA Class 3A and Class 4A Baseball State Finals for Friday, June 10.
Game times have been adjusted from the original schedule to prevent playing during the hottest hours of the day. The new Friday game times are listed below.

Time: 9:00 a.m.
Game: Class 3A Semifinal #1
Matchup: Lemont vs. St. Viator
Time: Immediately after Game 1
Game: Class 3A Semifinal #2
Matchup: Limestone vs. Springfield

Time: 5:00 p.m.
Game: Class 4A Semifinal #1
Matchup: Providence vs. Plainfield North
Time: Immediately after Game 3

“These are some of the hottest expected temperatures that anyone can recall for our baseball tournament,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson. “Our motto is Play Smart, Play Hard, so I think it is common sense to take these precautions for the safety of the student-athletes, coaches, umpires and fans.
In addition to the schedule changes, IHSA staff members have been working with tournament host staffs and Certified Athletic Trainers to develop heat precaution measures that will include more tents for sun cover, icing stations, and cooling fans. For further information go to www.ihsa.org.
