Fake Name During 1st Arrest By Joliet Police, This Time Man Runs From Mini Cooper On Collins Street: Cops
Officers pursued Luis Martinez-Duran to the area of Ward Avenue and Parks Avenue, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced the capture of a 27-year-old man wanted in connection with a slew of crimes that involved his driving abilities.
First, back on Dec. 26, at 11:34 p.m., officers conducted a
traffic stop on a Buick Century in the 300 block of Liberty Street in which the man was arrested for multiple charges, including obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace
officer and possession of drug paraphernalia in addition to numerous traffic citations.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, by January, officers received information that the man previously arrested in December may have provided a false name.

"Following an investigation, it was determined that Luis Martinez-Duran, 27, Joliet, had used a family member’s name during that arrest. Officers subsequently obtained a warrant charging Martinez-Duran with obstructing identification, resisting a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia," English said.
Then, at around 3:05 a.m. April 5, English said officers saw a Mini Cooper traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Collins Street. Officers attempted a traffic stop after the vehicle turned eastbound onto Elwood Avenue; however, police say the driver failed to stop and continued before pulling into a driveway in the 400 block of Elwood Avenue.

The driver, identified as Martinez-Duran, ran from the car, and his vehicle rolled backward into a squad car, causing minor damage, English said.
Officers pursued Martinez-Duran to the area of Ward Avenue and Parks Avenue, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
"During the investigation, officers determined the
vehicle was displaying license plates that had been reported stolen out of Morris. He was found to be in the possession of suspected methamphetamine," English said.
This time, Martinez-Duran was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding a peace officer, possession of stolen license plates, obstructing justice, two counts of obstructing a peace
officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to state-supported property and possession of methamphetamine.
In addition to the warrant stemming from the December 2025 incident, he was also found to have two Will County warrants for failure to appear in court on prior charges. Martinez-Duran was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
The jail logs listed Martinez-Duran as coming from Fairmount Avenue in Lockport. One of the Will County judges authorized his release from the jail on Monday and he's been set free.
