Fake Vet With No Permit Solicited Donations For Vets, Or Maybe Meals On Wheels: Cops
The California man was wearing a uniform but was never a member of the military, police said.

A uniformed California man soliciting donations for veterans at Route 66 Raceway turned out to have no permit, and may have actually been trying to get money for Meals on Wheels, police said.
William Ehrlichman, 68, of Three Rivers, CA, was wearing a military uniform and asking race fans to donate money to him for veterans Friday afternoon, police said.
Officers questioned Ehrlichman and discovered he did not have a solicitor’s permit, police said. He did reportedly have $1,383 cash in his fanny pack, and military and 9/11-themed bumper stickers in his backpack.

Ehrlichman first explained he was raising funds for military veterans, police said, but later claimed he was collecting money for Meals on Wheels. And as officers questioned him further, it reportedly became evident that —despite his uniform — Ehrlichman had never served in the military.
Ehrlichman was ticketed for soliciting without a permit.
