I-80 Fatal Crash: Romeoville Motorist Ejected Near Center Street

JOLIET, IL — A 40-year-old Romeoville man was killed Tuesday evening in Joliet along the westbound stretch of Interstate 80 near the Center Street exit. Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. The Will County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Samuel Galvez.

Joliet firefighter/paramedics from Stations 1, 6 and 7 rushed to the crash scene. Blaskey said that crews found a single vehicle had left the roadway, flipped over and came to a rest on the driver's side. The driver was partially ejected and pinned underneath his car.

The man had suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, the chief said. The Illinois State Police are investigating the circumstances involving the fatality.
