Filing Ends for Joliet City Elections

Find out who's running in the April election.

Filing ended Monday for the April 7, 2015 election, with Joliet races taking shape.

In addition to incumbent Tom Giarrante and JJC board president Andy Mihelic, who filed last week, Joliet city councilman Bob O’Dekirk through his hat into the ring, filing for the mayoral race.

No one else filed for the District 1 city council race, leaving incumbent Larry Hug and Terry Cottrell, who filed last week, on the ballot.

In District 2, early filers Patrick Mudron and Brett Gould were joined by Roger Powell.

Ray Polikaitis and incumbent John Gerl, who both filed Dec. 15, are vying for the District 3 seat.

Last week, incumbent Bettye Gavin, who was appointed to the board last spring, filed to keep her District 4 seat, along with Phillip Petrakos, Angel Guzman and James Foster.

In District 5, incumbent Terry Morris and Leonard Thompson Junior both filed on Monday, according to the city clerk’s office.
