Joliet runners fared well at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday.

Richard Demick was the first Joliet resident to finish the 26.2-mile race in Chicago Sunday, according to unofficial results posted on the Chicago Marathon website. He crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 3:34.07. Alyssa Zimmerman was the first female Joliet resident to complete the marathon. She finished with an unofficial time of 3:49.55

Meanwhile, Dickson Chumba, 28, of Kenya, was the overall winner of the race with an unofficial time of 2:09:25, according to Runner’s World. Florence Kiplagat, 28, also from Kenya, won the woman’s race with an unofficial time of 2:23.33, according to WGN TV. Each of the winners will receive $10,000.

The race got underway for the elite runners at 7:30 a.m.
