Fire At Crest Hill Building On Tomich Court

Lockport Township Fire Protection District said that smoke was coming from the building in the 1700 block of Tomich Court.

CREST HILL, IL — The Lockport Township Fire Protection District put out a building fire Monday evening in the 1700 block of Tomich Court. The fire happened around 7:35 p.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Frank Blaskey said that a neighboring business noticed smoke coming from the commercial building and called 911. Engine 2, which is stationed just up the street, quickly arrived to find a four-unit, metal pole building with a working fire in the unoccupied end unit.

Firefighters got fire under control within 15 minutes, but spent about an hour and a half working to extinguish some hot spots in an exterior wall.

The fire damage was contained to the single unit and no injuries were reported. Additional assistance was provided by Romeoville Fire at the scene while Bolingbrook, Homer, and Plainfield provided coverage in the Lockport stations.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Lockport Fire Investigators, Blaskey noted.
