Roof Fire At Pancake House On Jefferson Street: Battalion Chief
Joliet's Fire Department stopped the roof fire from spreading into the main restaurant area of the Old Fashioned Pancake House.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Fire Department extinguished a roof fire that broke out around 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Old Fashioned Pancake House on West Jefferson Street.
Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Ryan told Joliet Patch this was considered "a small structure fire." Ryan said he was not sure whether The Pancake House will need to be closed for any length of time, but he did say the Will County Health Department has been notified due to the fact that the fire occurred inside an eating establishment.
The fire was contained to the restaurant's roof, Ryan said.

The Joliet Fire Department sent crews from Stations 1, 5, 6 7 and 8, Ryan said.
Nobody was inside the restaurant at the time of the blaze.
The restaurant stays open daily for breakfast and brunch. It's in the Marycrest Shopping Center at 2022 West Jefferson St.
How soon Pancake House will be able to reopen to serve customers probably depends on the extent of the damage to the restaurant's roof, Ryan estimated.
