Fresh Thyme Still on Track to Open in 2015: Joliet Mayor

A new grocery store specializing in fresh, healthy foods is still set to open next year, Mayor Tom Giarrante said Monday.

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market will open in a portion of the former MyGofer store at 2700 Plainfield Road.

“They’re looking at opening in the spring,” Giarrante said of the store, which will offer fresh fruits, vegetables and hormone-free meat.

According to its website, Fresh Thyme offers “fresh and healthy food at amazing values.”

Earlier this year, Giarrante said reps for the chain described the store by saying, “if Whole Foods married Trader Joe’s and had a baby, it would be Fresh Thyme.”

A Sport Authority store has also set up shop in the old MyGofer location.

Meanwhile, nearby at the Louis Joliet Mall, Swedish clothing retailer H&M is scheduled to open a new location. On Monday, Giarrante said a ribbon-cutting for the store could happen as soon as this week.
