Glen Marcum Foundation Announces 2020 Grant Recipients

Two Local Agencies Each Receive $2,500 Grant

The Glen Marcum Foundation is proud to announce its two grant recipients for the 2020 calendar year. In response to the tumultuous events of this year, the Board of Trustees has focused its attention on organizations directly involved in supporting members of the community impacted by COVID-19.

The Foundation awarded a $2,500 grant to Senior Services of Will County, to support their COVID Action Response Team. Senior Services of Will County delivers groceries to thousands of seniors and makes well-being calls to thousands more. This grant will continue to support their current and future efforts in assisting one of the most vulnerable populations in our community.

An additional $2,500 grant was given to the South Suburban Center of the Northern Illinois Food Bank, which has been vital in supporting the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. In April alone, they exceeded their food distribution goal by 1 million meals. The Food Bank addresses the fundamental need for food that so many take for granted; this grant will help the organization serve even more families in need.

Glen Marcum Foundation President Allison Gunnink said that the Board of Trustees was unanimous in its approach. “Our focus this year was clear: help those affected by COVID-19. The organizations the Board chose are already well-known for supporting our community, and they’ve really stepped up in helping to alleviate some of the problems the pandemic has caused. We couldn’t have picked two more worthy recipients.”

The Glen Marcum Foundation was established in 2017 to commemorate the life and values of Glen Marcum, a lifelong Joliet resident who passed away in 2016. The mission of the Foundation is to continue Glen’s lifelong mission of community service by contributing to Joliet area foundations and organizations.
