Gun Displayed In Double J Parking Lot, Arrest Made: JPD

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested a 22-year-old man around 2:30 a.m. Friday after police say he displayed a gun during a confrontation with two people outside a Joliet bar on Essington Road. Julian Lopez was arrested at 1001 Essington Road, which is Double J Sports Bar, arrest logs show.

Lopez was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a gun and ammunition, possession of controlled substances and aggravated assault. Joliet police officers responded to the disturbance call in the 1000 block of Essington Road at 1:53 a.m.

Lopez, along with a 29-year-old man and a 31-year-old man got into a heated argument inside the bar, police reports show. From there, the three Double J customers went outside to the parking lot and that's where Lopez pulled out a gun and pointed his gun at both of his victims, threatening them, according to police.

Joliet police say Lopez was arrested without any problems, and a gun was recovered. In addition to the gun, Joliet police say they confiscated alprazolam pills from Lopez.

Lopez was booked into the Will County Jail at 4:19 a.m. Friday. The jail lists his address as the 300 block of Krakar Avenue, which is Joliet's east side.
