Gun Found After Black Road Traffic Stop By Joliet Police: English

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police officers arrested and later released 19-year-old Jacoby Hamilton of Crest Hill following the recovery of a loaded gun and a cannabis vape pen in his vehicle on Tuesday night, according to arrest reports.

Joliet police say Hamilton was given a notice to appear in court on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe near Black Road and Junie Court for speeding. Hamilton was the driver.

Officers detected the odor of cannabis coming from the interior of the vehicle. Upon search of the vehicle, the officers recovered a loaded handgun and a cannabis vape pen near the driver’s seat.

Hamilton was placed into custody without incident. Hamilton was also cited for speeding, improper lane usage and illegal possession of cannabis by the driver.

Joliet police called a towing company to haul away Hamilton's car from the scene.
