Gun Missing, Joliet Man Arrested On Frontage Road: JPD

During an argument between the two, 8-year-old Duvell Wilson struck the victim in the head with the handgun, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old Joliet man was arrested over the weekend after Joliet police say he hit a woman in the head with a gun. The incident happened around 2:05 a.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of Heritage Drive, which is behind West Jefferson Street.

Joliet police later arrested Duvell Wilson and brought him to the Will County Jail on charges of domestic battery and aggravated domestic battery.

While officers were driving to the apartment complex on Heritage Drive to investigate the 911 call, police learned that Wilson's victim was following after him in her car near West Jefferson Street and Northeast Frontage Road, police said.

Joliet police stopped Wilson's car and learned that he had attacked the woman back on Heritage Drive, the arrest report showed.

"The victim arrived at the parking lot of Wilson’s apartment to retrieve her 9 mm handgun that she had previously left in his apartment," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English announced. "During an argument between the two, Wilson struck the victim in the head with the handgun."

English said the victim escaped the ordeal and called 911. She followed Wilson’s vehicle to the area of West Jefferson Street and Northeast Frontage Road and that's where Wilson was taken into custody at the scene of the traffic stop.

The victim was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Joliet police were unable to locate a firearm, English noted.

As for Wilson, he was released from the Will County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail on Sunday afternoon.
