Gunfire Near Motel On McDonough, Joliet Police Arrest 1

Tuesday's shooting incident happened around 2 a.m. in Joliet near the area of McDonough and Emery Streets.

JOLIET, IL — A 38-year-old Joliet man was arrested early Tuesday morning after Joliet police say he fired his gun at two other men following an argument that spilled into the parking lot of a McDonough Street motel. Nobody was struck by the gunfire, police said.

Officers later arrested William Lindsey on charges of aggravated discharge of a gun, aggravated assault, unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a street gang member and having no FOID card, according to police.

On Tuesday, a Will County judge set bail at $250,000 for the Joliet defendant.

Around 2 a.m., officers responded to the motel parking lot in the 1700 block of McDonough Street after learning of several gunshots.

Joliet Police say that Lindsay got into an argument with a 39-year-old man inside a motel room and their argument continued into the parking lot and then moved into one of the nearby neighborhoods.

In the 300 block of Emery Street, Lindsay fired several gunshots at the 39-year-old man and a 45-year-old man who was also outside, according to police. Nobody was hit by the gunshots, and both men ran away from Lindsay without being hurt, police reports show.

At that point, Lindsay drove away in a green Pontiac sedan, police said.

Eventually, a Joliet police officer spotted the green Pontiac traveling along West Jefferson near Oneill street. According to police, Lindsay stopped the sedan in the 1100 block of West Jefferson Street and tried to run away.

Officers captured Lindsay in the 100 block of Oneill, reports show. "Once in custody, Lindsay indicated his involvement," police reports reflect.

Police recovered a discarded gun and a gun magazine from the area where Lindsay was fleeing, reports reflect.

According to jail logs, Lindsay lives in the 2400 block of Glenwood Avenue.
