Hammes Ave. Shooting Victim Fights For Life: Joliet Police
Saturday's shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. and the shooting victim was rushed to St. Joe's hospital in a private vehicle.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police announced that an overnight gunshot victim suffered life-threatening injuries during a shooting that happened on Joliet's west side on Hammes Avenue. No arrests have been made.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the 28-year-old man was rushed to St. Joe's hospital in a private vehicle rather than by summoning a Joliet Fire Department ambulance.
As a result, Joliet police officers first arrived at the Emergency Room for St. Joe's at 3:29 a.m.

"During the preliminary investigation, it was learned that the victim may have been shot while in a vehicle near the 100 block of South Hammes Avenue," English announced. "Officers responded to this location and discovered evidence of a shooting.
"Joliet Police Detectives responded to the hospital and the scene of the shooting to begin their investigation."
