Haunted Prison Returns: 2 New Attractions, 'More Scares Than Ever'

Chicagoland's only haunted house inside an actual abandoned prison is in Joliet along the Collins Street corridor. Tickets are now for sale.

JOLIET, IL — Just one month after legendary Hollywood actors Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi rocked the house at the Old Joliet Prison for the first ever Blues Brothers Con, something very scary is about to take place at the prison property on the other side of Collins Street.

The Chicagoland's only haunted house inside an actual abandoned prison is nearing its opening. This marks the second year of operation for The Old Joliet Haunted Prison. It's managed by Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, a company that tours itself as "producers of world-class live events and location-based entertainment experiences."

The Abominations: Dormant for centuries, The Abominations are tragic beings hungry for the companionship of living flesh. Cursed with an insatiable appetite, they cannot help but feast upon the innocent souls they capture, condemning everyone to eternal suffering.

Tormented: Rageful after suffering atrocities at the hands of the paranormal scientists, the Condemned seek to lure others to their eternal suffering as revenge. No one can escape their phantom grasp as they dwell in the afterlife, tormented.

"Guests can also partake in mini-interactive and immersive escape games, indulge in on-site local food trucks and enjoy spooky libations and concessions at The Commissary before or after experiencing the haunted house," according to Thirteenth Floor.

Tickets are on sale now, beginning at $19.99. However, the haunted house event may be too intense for children under 12, the company advised.
