Hawaiian Bros. Restaurant Opening New Joliet Location: City Council Reviews Drive-Thru Permit
The applicant has submitted a site plan to the Department of Public Works showing the operation of the proposed drive thru.

JOLIET, IL —Joliet is continuing on its record pace of attracting a growing number of national and regional restaurant franchises to open in the City of Champions.
At next week's Monday and Tuesday City Council meetings, Joliet's politicians will review a proposed drive-thru permit to allow for the construction of a new Hawaiian Brothers Island Grill restaurant. It will be built on the undeveloped land near the new Hollywood Casino Joliet as part of the Cullinan Properties mega-development off Interstate 55 near Interstate 80, Rock Run Collection.
"From Huli Huli Chicken with our signature teriyaki sauce to perfectly seasoned Macaroni Salad to sweet and savory SPAM Musubi, our tasty grindz are inspired by authentic island favorites,"the restaurant chain's website proclaims.

According to J0liet Public Works Director Greg Ruddy, on July 22, his department staff received a formal request for a drive thru facility for a proposed Hawaiian Bros Restaurant at 1351 Shale Road. The restaurant will be located on a new lot adjacent to the proposed Culver’s restaurant at 1301 Shale Road.
The Hawaiian Bros development involves construction of a new 5,850 square foot multi-tenant commercial building with three tenant spaces, each approximately 1,950 square feet, one of which will be occupied by Hawaiian Bros, Ruddy noted.

The City’s Planning Division has reviewed the preliminary site plan and has no remaining outstanding items, Ruddy advised the City Council.
"The Department of Public Works has reviewed the drive thru facility site plan," Ruddy's memo to the City Council stated. "Access to the site will be available from a new full access driveway on Shale Road as well as a new full access connection to the proposed Culver’s site. Upon final investigation, the Department of Public Works has determined that there is sufficient storage on the site and therefore recommends approval of the drive thru permit subject to approval of the final engineering plans.
"Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the Drive Thru Permit for a Hawaiian Bros Restaurant at 1351 Shale Road."
