Hawk Subaru: Goodbye Jefferson St., Hello Route 59

JOLIET, IL — On Tuesday afternoon, there were plenty of giant smiles on the faces of the Hawk of Joliet Subaru employees. That's because they love their new digs. On Monday, Hawk opened its brand new showroom at the busy Joliet intersection of Caton Farm Road and Route 59.

A few years ago, Hawk was considering moving to the village of Plainfield. But in 2017, the Joliet Park District negotiated a land deal that allowed Hawk to remain in the city of Joliet.

As part of the real estate transaction, the Joliet Park District redesigned a portion of its 18-hole Wedgewood Golf Course to accommodate Hawk as its new neighbor.

On Tuesday afternoon, Joliet Patch visited the site and interviewed Hawk of Joliet sales managers Rocco Massarelli and Chris Tsaliangos.

Both men told Patch they are ecstatic with their new dealership. Hawk moved most of its inventory over the weekend from its long-time location on West Jefferson Street.

Besides the new Subaru dealership, Hawk will be opening its new Mazda dealership showroom at Route 59 and Caton Farm Road in about a month or so.

The Mazda showroom is currently under construction.

The sales managers for Hawk of Joliet expect to draw most of their customer base from Joliet as well as Shorewood, Minooka, Channahon, Plainfield, New Lenox, Lockport and hopefully Naperville, they said.

The new dealership sold its first Subaru on Monday to a resident of Plainfield.

"It's a great area, a great market," Tsaliangos said of moving to Joliet's Route 59 corridor. "This is certainly a location that we feel it serves a purpose."

Hawk also operates a service shop at the new Route 59 location. The service technicians can do oil changes on all makes and models of cars.
