Man Crashed Ford Mustang Into Light Pole, Seriously Injuring Passenger: Joliet Police

Anthony Morales was placed into custody on Tuesday at 7:29 p.m. after turning himself in at the Joliet Police Department.

JOLIET, IL —The Joliet Police Department told Joliet Patch that 20-year-old aggravated DUI defendant Anthony Morales has surrendered and turned himself in to the agency following last week's filing of formal charges by the Will County State's Attorney's Office.

The crash at Larkin Avenue and Jefferson Street happened just over one year ago.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:44 a.m. on March 8, 2025, officers responded to West Jefferson Street and Larkin Avenue for a crash with injuries.

The Ford Mustang driven by Morales was traveling eastbound on West Jefferson Street approaching Larkin Avenue when he lost control and the vehicle struck a pole on the northeast side of the intersection, police said.

A 19-year-old male passenger of the Ford had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Joliet Fire Department. Both Morales and the passenger were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, English said.

He said that Morales sustained minor injuries, while the passenger suffered serious injuries. The crash was investigated by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit, and evidence
determined that Morales was allegedly impaired at the time of the incident.

Morales was placed into custody just before 7:30 p.m. March 24 after turning himself in at the Joliet Police Department. He was processed and released on a notice to appear in court, according to English.
