Unlicensed Driver Crashed Into Joliet's Linda's Pizza Westside, Faces Charges: Police
Joliet police officers responded to Linda's Pizza, 723 Taylor St., after a vehicle crashed into the building Tuesday night.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department issued a press release on Wednesday afternoon revealing that a 69-year-old man, Robert Lirot, was responsible for causing substantial damage to the Linda's Pizza Westside during a Tuesday night wreck.
Lirot was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI, DUI, DUI – BAC .08 or More, DUI –Drugs, DUI – Combination of Alcohol and Drugs, and Driving While License Revoked.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, officers responded to Linda’s Pizza at 723 Taylor St., after a vehicle crashed into the building at 8:50 p.m.

According to his press release, Lirot was driving a Chevrolet Traverse southbound on Raynor Avenue when he turned left onto Taylor Street, struck the median, then hit an unoccupied parked Buick Regal before crashing into the front of Linda’s
Pizza. The building sustained extensive damage and was evaluated by a City of Joliet building inspector. No other injuries were reported.
Officers determined that Lirot’s driver’s license was revoked, and he did not have proof of insurance. Officers noticed signs of alcohol impairment from Lirot and learned he had
allegedly consumed prescription medication before driving, English said.

He completed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody without incident. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. His vehicle was towed.
After reporting a medical issue at the Joliet Police Department, Lirot was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department, English noted.
Upon release from the hospital, he was processed and released on a notice to appear at the courthouse.
