Jeff Gromatski was also charged with felony domestic battery in 2013, jail logs show.

JOLIET, IL - A 42-year-old Joliet resident is accused of trying to injure his mother during a heated confrontation on Monday, police said. Jeffrey Gromatski, 1300 block of Timberline Drive, was arrested on three misdemeanor charges, domestic battery, two counts of criminal damage to property and one felony charge of domestic battery/having a prior conviction. Jail logs show Gromatski was arrested in 2013 on a felony charge of domestic battery.

Joliet's Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said that Monday's arrest incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. at the home on Timberline Drive when Gromatski got into an argument with his mother, 64. She apparently had complained about him having food and salsa inside of his room. "He went crazy and started screaming at her," Gregory said. "He pushed her several times in the shoulder and forced her out of his bedroom."

According to police, things escalated. "He pushed her into a wall several times and grabbed a TV and threw it down and broke it," Gregory said. "He damaged a couch in the living room."
