Man Punched Joliet Police Officer In The Arm After Taking A Fighting Stance: JPD

While officers stood by, Terrence Prince became increasingly agitated toward them, Joliet police arrest reports allege.

JOLIET, IL — A 29-year-old Joliet man now finds himself in the Will County Jail for the fourth time since 2019 after Joliet police arrested him on Wednesday night.

According to the arrest reports, at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Belmont Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Officers say that an argument had occurred between Terrence Prince and a female inside the residence. Officers remained on scene while the female gathered her belongings and prepared to leave the residence in an effort to resolve the situation.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, while officers stood by, Prince became increasingly agitated toward them. At one point, Prince approached an officer with a fighting stance and allegedly struck the officer in the arm.

At that moment, the officers then attempted to take Prince into custody. During the arrest, Prince briefly struggled and
attempted to pull away from officers before being taken into custody, according to English.

Prince was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and later
transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
