JOLIET, IL — Ten months after the Joliet Police Department investigated a domestic violence incident on the city's east side, 46-year-old Hilarino Reyes-Santiago has finally been captured — and let go.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 9:42 p.m. May 2, 2025, officers responded to a residence for a domestic disturbance. In the 700 block of Meeker Avenue, an inebriated Hilarino Reyes-Santiago of Joliet had allegedly thrown a television remote at a woman, which struck her in the head, English said.

The victim was holding a child at the time of the attack, according to police. The victim and children then fled to a nearby residence. Officers were unable to locate Reyes-Santiago at the time.

By June 26, Joliet detectives obtained an arrest warrant for two counts of domestic battery against Reyes-Santiago.

Finally, this week, Reyes-Santiago was placed into custody following a traffic stop near Bridge Street and Bluff Street on March 3 at 9 p.m.

He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Jail logs indicate that at supper time on Wednesday, after spending one night in the jail, he was turned loose and returned to the community.

Reyes comes from the 700 block of Meeker Avenue.
