Health Inspection Report: Sushi Ya

JOLIET, IL — You might love the food, but sometimes the restaurants you visit aren’t always the cleanest places. And sometimes they are. You can know for sure with a health inspection report.

The Will County Health Department visited Sushi Ya April 27 for a routine inspection, which is the most recent report available. The restaurant received a sanitation score of 74 and then a corrected score of 85 once immediate fixes were made.

Some of the items out of compliance were:

• Raw fish stored over lettuce.
• No paper towels at hand sinks in kitchen.
• Soiled towels on table.
• Handling ready to eat food with bare hands.
• Interior doors of prep cooler soiled.
