The stabber may have used a sharp stick, police said.

A crying Joliet teen saddened by a recent breakup stabbed his pal in the neck when his buddy gave him a hug, police said.
Jorge Guzman, 18, was jailed on a felony charge of aggravated battery in connection with the alleged 9:45 p.m. Tuesday attack on his 16-year-old pal.
Guzman and the other teen were hanging out in an alley near the corner of Landau Avenue and Columbia Street when talk turned to Guzman’s recent break up with his girlfriend, police said.

Guzman began to cry, police said, and the younger teen embraced him. That was when Guzman stuck his buddy in the neck. The police weren’t sure what sort of weapon Guzman used to jab his friend’s neck but believe it “possibly” may have been a “sharp piece of wood.”
Guzman then ran off, police said, and his friend walked to his home on Ward Avenue. When he got there someone called for an ambulance and the teen was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
