Hickory Street Shooting: Victim In Serious Condition

Several Joliet police officers are on the scene of a Thursday night shooting on Joliet's near west side.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department was on the scene of a Thursday night shooting that left a 23-year-old man with serious injuries.

Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Carey informed Joliet Patch that ambulance 1 and engine 5 responded to Thursday's shooting in the unit block of North Hickory Street.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. in the near west side neighborhood near Hickory and Lafayette Streets. Joliet firefighter/paramedics rushed the shooting victim to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, and his injuries were considered life-threatening, Carey said.

Joliet resident Bob Hernandez went to the crime scene and produced one of his Facebook Live videos for his followers.

Hernandez informed his social media followers that the victim was shot in the stomach.
