Hit-And-Run Rollover Wreck: Joliet Police Make Arrest
Ivan Moffett's collision caused the Mitsubishi to overturn, injuring the woman, 22, and her two passengers, a man, 24, and a 4-month-old.

JOLIET, IL — For the third time this year, Joliet police arrested 27-year-old 5th Avenue resident Ivan Moffett, and this week's latest traces back by a violent, rollover car crash from April that injured a 22-year-old woman, her 24-year-old male passenger and a 4-month-old girl, arrest reports show.
Moffett jumped out of his car, back in April, after the wreck, sprinted from the scene and Joliet police did not capture him, police reports show. He got away that night, but on Sunday evening, officers tracked him down after deploying a taser.
Released from the Will County Jail around 7 p.m. Monday, Moffett now faces three charges of failure to report an accident involving personal Injury or death, three counts of failure to stop after an accident involving personal injury or death, possession of a controlled substance, resisting a peace officer and obstructing justice.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events from two months ago led to Sunday evening's of Moffett on the city's near west side.
- Back on April 24, around 10:25 p.m., a crash happened near Miles Avenue and Florence Avenue. As officers arrived, Moffett opend the door for his damaged Kia Sorento and ran off.
- Moffett was driving a Kia Sorento eastbound on Florence Avenue approaching Miles Avenue at a high rate of speed. He disobeyed the stop sign and struck the Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by the 22-year-old woman going southbound on Miles Avenue.
- Her Mitsubishi overturned and she and her two passengers were taken by Joliet Fire Department ambulances to Silver Cross Hospital. Their injuries were non-life-threatening.
- On June 8, Joliet detectives obtained a warrant to arrest Moffett and on Sunday evening, as the sun was setting, officers spotted Moffett in the parking lot of Riverwalk Homes, 300 North Bluff Street.
- When officers tried to arrest Moffett, he struggled with them and refused to provide access to his arms. Moffett tried to run away, but the officers deployed a taser and it subdoed the criminal defendant who comes from the 100 block of 5th Avenue.
- At the time of the arrest, officers realized Moffett tried to conceal MDMA pills in a plastic bag inside his mouth. Instead of taking Moffett to the jail, the Joliet Fire Department gave him an ambulance ride to the Ascension St Joseph Medical Center. He was released a short time later and taken to the Will County Jail.
Jail logs listed Moffett as having separate bails of $100,00 and $15,000 for his cases. He posted the necessary 10 percent and now remains a free man, pending his next court hearing at the Will County Courthouse.
