JOLIET, IL — Kyleigh Cleveland, Romeo Nance's longtime girlfriend and the mother of his 3-year-old son, was freed from the Will County Jail on Thursday morning after Will County Judge Dave Carlson ordered her placed on home confinement. She is not allowed to leave her house, according to court officials.

On Wednesday night, Cleveland was booked into the Will County Jail by Joliet police in connection with her role surrounding the deaths of Romeo Nance's seven relatives at the two houses in the 2200 block of West Acres Road, on Joliet's west side.

The criminal complaint for Cleveland from Will County State's Attorney Jim Glasgow indicated "
"that said defendant, with the intent to prevent the apprehension of Romeo Nance for irst-degree murder, furnished false information to the Joliet Police Department ... that she did not know the phone number of Romeo Nance."

So far, Cleveland has been charged with one count of obstructing justice, a felony. A person familiar with the neighborhood where the mass murders happened said officials believe Cleveland was present inside one of the houses while Romeo Nance killed two members of his family: his mother and his uncle.

Cleveland also lived at one of the houses, her Will County court records show, although Joliet police also indicated she stayed with her family members who lived on South Joliet Road in the village of Plainfield.

Her next court appearance at the Will County Courthouse is set for Feb. 8.

Romeo Nance, 23, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound during a confrontation with law enforcement in Natalia, Texas, where police said he fled after killing eight people, including seven of his relatives.

Slain were Nance's three sisters — 16-year-old Alonnah Nance, 14-year-old Angel Nance and 20-year-old Alexandria Nance — along with his mother, 47-year-old Tameka Nance; brother, 31-year-old Joshua Nance; uncle William Esters, 35; and aunt Christine Esters, 38.

Police also believe Romeo Nance shot two men at random: 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, who was killed near the Pheasant Run Apartments, and a 42-year-old man who was wounded but survived on Joliet's Davis Street.
